05/20/2022 SONOMA COUNTY DRAGONS CSA BOX

5/20/2022 box includes:

  1. Celtuce and A-Tsai: Our sword lettuce is slowly forming thick stems. We harvested young celtuce with shorter stems for you to enjoy this week. Peel the skin of the stems and stir-fry. I love the nutty earthy taste! Don't forget to use the tops, also called a tsai or a choy!

  2. Xiao Bai Cai or Tawain Bok Choy: Eat as a tender salad green, use in sandwiches or stir-fry with chopped garlic as a side dish or in soup. This is the veggie found in Taiwan and used in beef noodle soup!

  3. Chinese Celery: Known as cutting celery, this is celery on steriods! The flavor is intense! You can use both the stems and leaves. We put these in our tuna fish sandwiches and my mom's eggrolls. The flavor profile changes completely!! Traditionally paired with dried tofu as a main dish.

  4. Strawberries

  5. Zucchini: Green and/or Yellow

  6. Napa Cabbage: Use in dumplings, soups, kimchi or my Popo's favorite lion head meatballs!

  7. Japanese Salad Hakurei Turnips: Juicy and sweet enough to eat raw! We enjoy roasting them in butter on a griddle! Greens should be used as well and taste similar to mustard!

  8. Korean Mu with Tops: Young and tender radish thinnings to make soup with both the root and the top. Pickle or ferment. Or slice thin and toss in a salad!

  9. White Stem Bok Choy or Shanghai Bok Choy: These cabbages are huge with tender stems. One should be enough for a small stirfry.

  10. Red Butterhead Lettuce

  11. Dill: We love making baked salmon with dill!

  12. Cilantro
