05/06/2022 SONOMA COUNTY DRAGONS CSA BOX

5/6/2022 box includes:

  1. Garlic Chives: Viewed as a vegetable rather than an herb. Make the classic pork and chive dumpling filling! We have been trying to establish our garlic chive patch since 2019, but it gets lost to the grass or weeded out! Our goal is to have 2 100-foot rows of established plants!

  2. Green Chard: These are larger leaves so cooking the leaves and stems is recommended over eating raw!

  3. Taiwanese Bok Choy: Xiao Bai Cai. The quintessential stir-fry green found in Taiwan as a side dish with garlic and in beef noodle soup!

  4. Red Butterhead Lettuce

  5. Shunkyo Radish with Tops: Sweet and Spicy. We strive to harvest our roots with their tops, as they can be used in salads, stir fries or wilted into hot soups. Two vegetables in one!

  6. Strawberries

  7. Green Frill Mustard with roots: Spicy and Pungent. Add mustard greens to meat dishes or salads. Pickle or slice the roots - can be used as a substitute for horseradish or wasabi!

  8. Dill: I only started growing dill after my Joma requested it for her dumpling filling!

  9. Kohlrabi. Peel these and eat raw! The way I grew up eating kohlrabi is a traditional German way using a white roux sauce smothering boiled peeled potatoes. Also can be pickled and saved for later. Tops are nice and can be stir-fried as well.

  10. Thai Basil. Make the Taiwanese special 3-Cup Chicken! (or tofu if you are vegetarian)
